Firming Face Cream

Español 日本語

If you have read my other post, ‘How to make a skin tightening lotion’, you already know I am now making skincare products for my loose skin. Here I made a cream that I have been using for some time now, and I have to tell you, I am loving it! I can feel and see how quickly my skin absorbs it, and how healthy it looks after applying it.

Let’s just dive right in.

  • Amount to prepare: Approx. 65 ml
  • Refrigerator storage: 1 month

Tools

  • Glass container: 70 ml
  • Measuring cup/Beaker: 100 ml
  • Mug cup/Heat resistant container: 2 (Any size that can fit in the pot)
  • Teaspoon: 1 (Approx. 5ml)
  • Glass Stirring rod/Hand mixer: 1
  • Silicone Spatula: 1
  • Pot (for water bath): 1
  • Cooking thermometer: 1

Ingredients

  • Rosemary water: 40ml (Protects skin cells, repairs damaged tissues, regenerates new cells)
  • Jojoba oil: 3 tsp (Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, promotes collagen synthesis, minimizes the appearance of scars)
  • St. John’s Wort oil: 2 tsp (Helps soothe and repair damaged skin)
  • Rosemary essential oil: 6 drops (1 dropper: 0.05ml, concentration: 0.5%). (Tighten the skin, Prevents acne)
  • Emulsifying wax: ¾ tsp (Make oil and water bind together into a smooth emulsion)
  • Xanthan gum: ⅛ tsp (Thickens the mixture)

Steps

  1. In one mug cup add the rosemary water.
  2. In the other mug cup, add the Hohoba oil, the St. John’s Wort oil and the emulsifying wax.
  3. Add water in a pot and place the two mug cups carefully in it. Be careful not to contaminate the ingredients in the mug cup with the pot water.
  4. Heat them and stir well the oils with the wax, until the wax is completely dissolved.
  5. Measure the temperature in the ingredients, and when they reach 50~60℃, remove the mug cups out of the pot.
  6. Slowly, add the rosemary water in the mug cup with the oils and wax, and stir well.
  7. Next, add the Xanthan gum in the mixture slowly, mixing it well at the same time to avoid lumping.
  8. Let it sit until it cools down.
  9. Once the cream is cooled down, add the Rosemary essential oil to it and stir it well.
  10. Bottle it up in the 70 ml Glass container.

Can you believe how easy it is? It is very common to have the idea that only the cosmetic manufacturers can make creams through very complicated processes, but once you know you can make it by yourself in your kitchen, it is an amazing feeling and you just want to learn more!
